about

I've decided to make redux/remastered versions of a bunch of my older compositions, since I feel that many of them are my best work, and, where some of them are concerned, I've since gained light years of experience and much better tech. I started with my "Flower Waltzes" album (most of which was composed 4ish years ago) since I feel that it's the very best of the best of my work.

This song is officially called "The Waltz of the Daffodils", and I chose to remake this one first, since it's one of the older waltzes in the series (I composed the first version of it way before most of the others, back when I was 17) and also because I feel that this particular piece communicates what's inside of my heart more fluently than almost any other song I've written.

Daffodils are my very favorite flowers! I absolutely adore them- and, believe me, it's a tall order to be RebeccaETripp's favorite flower, as I am flower obsessed. I've written over 70 full length orchestral scores about flowers, as well as numerous vocal/choir arrangements centered around them (along with trees and other parts of nature) as the theme. Nature is truly the main source of my inspiration! In this composition, I attempted to express the feelings I get every year when I see my first daffodil. It starts out with pure glee; that part represents me catching a glimpse of bright yellow somewhere under a tree while looking for crocuses and other early bloomers. When the waltz part kicks in, I've already smelled the daffodil and, by that time, realized that there are several more. The rest of the song evokes a feeling of walking around in the park in early spring. It could be either sunny or raining- it matters not! The hue of the daffodils is so cheerful that it makes no difference.
